Research Project Description:
Proteins are the building blocks of our bodies, and a functional proteome is critical for the homeostasis of our bodies. However, the protein production step, mRNA translation, is surprisingly error prone. Little is known about the dynamics and mechanisms of the fidelity of mRNA translation between tissues and across the development and aging processes. We’re particularly interested in the context of neurological disorders, which are triggered by protein aggregation. We are keen to understand the role of mRNA translation fidelity from a molecular to organism level and are seeking highly motivated students to kick start a new project in the new lab.
